Advice to Writers

This month I am contributing to the wonderful Writing Tree’s blog with a post about the How To Do It Properly tips writers are bombarded with. You can find the post HERE.

Word seduction

A word is a fine thing. Yes, it conveys meaning but it’s not so much a brick in the construction of a story but the paint and plaster, too. Words rarely have a single meaning. They can hint or reference, add rhythm, lend music.

Here are a few of my favourites:

  • ethereal
  • subduction
  • caterpillar
  • spume
  • sagacity
  • limn
  • lupine
  • apoptosis
  • crepuscular
